Meet the Northwestern Mutual - St. Louis Management Team:  Gerard M Hempstead, CPA, CLU®, ChFC®, CFP®Managing Partner Northwestern Mutual-St. Louis Gerard Hempstead passed the Certified Public Accountants exam upon graduating from Indiana University's School of Business in 1993. Hempstead spent two years with KPMG in their insurance and financial services practice before starting his career with Northwestern Mutual Financial Network in 1995. Hempstead obtained his Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU) designation in 1998, Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC®) designation in 1999, Competent Toastmaster (CTM) designation in 2000 and Certified Financial Planner™(CFP®) certification in 2002. Hempstead consistently qualifies for Northwestern Mutual's top 200 Financial Representatives in the country and has been awarded both the "30 under 30" and the "40 under 40" award from the St. Louis Business Journal recognizing the top executives in St. Louis. Gerard Hempstead served as Managing Director of the Clayton District Office for 4 years and is currently Managing Partner of Northwestern Mutual St. Louis. Hempstead is a member of the Financial Planning Association (FPA), the Saint Louis University High School's Board of Trustees, and is on the Finance Committee of Incarnate Word Parish.  Brett G GillilandManaging Director Northwestern Mutual - Edwardsville Brett Gilliland began his career with Northwestern Mutual after graduating from Eastern Illinois University with a B.A. in Communications in 2001. Gilliland made the Million Dollar Round table the first year in the business and has qualified 3 times since. Gilliland became the Managing Director in the Glen Carbon District Network Office in February 2007. Prior to becoming the Managing Director Gilliland was a College Unit Director and Field Director. Gilliland believes in building a culture of high expectations for his associates and clients.
Brett Gilliland is a member of the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors (NAIFA) and is a Director on the Board of Advisors for the Children’s Miracle Network.
 Fred L Harre, MBAManaging Director Northwestern Mutual - St. Louis Fred Harre has been with Northwestern Mutual since 1999. Currently the Managing Director of our downtown St. Louis district office, Fred holds Masters and Bachelors degrees in Marketing from Saint Louis University. Residing in Ballwin, Fred enjoys running marathons and water skiing with his family.
